Jonah

He didn't say England were unlucky to lose to Wales or Australia. He said England were unlucky to be drawn in a group containing three "serious" rugby countries. All other groups had a maximum of two, and these qualified for the quarter finals without breaking sweat.

You didn't miss out on the knockout stages of the rugby because you were unlucky.

So everyone loved England as a kid.

That doesn't tell you England was good years ago, just that you really enjoyed stuff when you was a kid.

Same argument for West Ham. Everyone seems to love them as a kid. Don't matter what age.

Everyone who gets older thinks the same thing, it was better when I was a kid. Music. Films. West Ham. England. Computer games. Etc etc etc

Comma - Im hoping we get a nice one, as there are some seriously pony teams in the Finals.

And if it's seeded, we must be one of the seeds?

Re: Spain v England
The groups draw is being done in a month's time. Only then will we be able to judge whether or not we can reach the knock out stage.

Let's hope we get lucky in the draw compared to say the last football and rugby world cups.

Re: Spain v England
This current England squad is ok at international level but nothing more than that. Unlike the team of the last twenty years or so, the players available now can't even compete with the top teams. When playing the likes of Spain, Germany, Argentina, etc they are going to lose the majority of the time.

A change of manager isn't going to change that. If we get a nice draw for the Euro's we may make it out of the group. But we'll likely be knocked out as soon as we come across anyone good.

Sydney - It certainly was, use to LOVE England games when I was a kid, just felt like a huge event particuarly with no live games back then.

I went (with the oldman) to an England game before I went West Ham, against Spain at Wembley 2-0

Re: Spain v England
Watching England as a kid was always a highlight and highly anticipated but international football has fallen by the wayside to a certain extent in the current era, this game I just watched some highlights and the Gaspar goal was good to watch but the England defence almost shrugged there shoulders when it went in, summed up the game really.

Totally right axeman.
I've been given Hodgson the benefit of the doubt but this was a truely inept performance.
So many negatives and the only plus was Barkley who then Hodgson took off.
Hodgson is acting like he's still manager of WBA, very very negative tactics.Defending in your own half is pathetic.
Thank god Vardy didn't play as he would of probably got the blame. If he had he would of chased around higher up the pitch only to look behind and find the midfield still in their own half.

Terrible,terrible line up.

Joe Hart had the worst performance I have seen from an England goalkeeper ever.
He kicking was medieval. You wouldn't seen less accurate kicking from a one legged blind man.
What was the point in him playing anyway. He's played in virtually every game for years.
Butland is as equally good on current form and should be given the experience. He should be playing in every game up until Easter. We need to good goalkeepers and for him to be sitting on his gloves is ridiculous.

Walker was aggressive but didn't attack at all and looks so vulnerable the Spanish were giggly thinking how easy this was.

Jones again looks vulnerable and dives in with no real thought. Again why was Stones not given game time.Stones should be playing every friendly until Easter too.

Butland looked ok actually when going forward but again we seem to have brainless players in defence.
Never offered Hart an outlet.

Carrick, a ponce of performance with no command at all. Our best defensive holding playing YHAL.

Delph, couldn't pass a frigging parcel let alone a football. The Quataries must be saying get rid, what have we bought here a bloke with no hamstrings and two cement feet.

Stirling, not good enough,no attacking verve and very limited. His worse England performance. His one shot nearly landed in Africa.

Lallana, performed more like a Lama, ran round in circles mainly around Walker. No attacking threat,no closing down. As Richard Osman would say Pointless.

Barkley, looked like the only threat going forward and some good moves, but his shooting boots were left in some cheap bar in Benidorm. None of the other players were anywhere near his wavelength.

Kane, should of scored a couple but he looked slow and unable to read the game. Roy of the Rovers looked more like Gnasher looking for Dennis the Menance.

Hodgson, no passion,no direction,no idea,no change of tactics,no hope.

I hope that this Tottenham lot turn up with the same performance next week against us. Even without Payet we would have a field day.

I remember when Woy took over just before the Euro Championships, the media were telling us to give him time etc. I seem to remember that the World Cup was going to be a true test of Hodgson's abilities according to pundits.

He's a boring cunt, and so is his football.

Until England appoint someone with a bit of personality and a differing view of the way we should play I won't be at all interested. Hodgson will, if not already, be found out.

Hodgson should have gone after the world cup debacle, hopeless negative manager in the Allardyce/Pullis mould.

Sniper - for a right back, he spends remarkably little time hanging around where right backs hang around.

He's really gone backwards in recent years and was done after 2010 for me.

Re: Spain v England
I still can't fathom exactly what Glenn Johnson did so wrong at the last World Cup to just get totally ostracised afterwards. Baines was our defensive weak link and not one of the succession of right backs that have come in since are a significant, if any, improvement

Re: Spain v England
Didn't bother watching it.
But predictably we lose to first stellar side we face.friendly or not.
Same old blocks.
Get easy qualifying groups and they delusionally believe they are a good side..then get found out when they get to tournaments.
About time England were put down the seedlings and put in tougher qualifying groups like the jocks and taffs

Sterling is so WEAK. A fart from a sparrow would knock him over.

Premier League may be "best in the world". But that's because it's full of overseas players. We have no chance, internationally.
